Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Out Now

CASTLEVANIA®: THE DRACULA X CHRONICLES™ NOW AVAILABLE

First Castlevania for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable System) Offers Three Games in One, Gorgeous 3D Graphics, and Timeless Side-Scrolling Gameplay
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - October 26, 2007 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles™ is now available in retail stores in North America. Developed exclusively for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles brings the groundbreaking PC Engine CD game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood™ in two different versions to North America for the first time ever-- the original 2D form along with an updated version incorporating 3D graphics and new gameplay elements. In addition, gamers will also receive one of the most highly treasured games in the Castlevania series, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night™ with redone voice-over, translation and content previously available only in the Japanese version of the game.

"We took full advantage of the PSP system, adding more content in a portable Castlevania than ever before," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "With the Dracula X Chronicles, not only does the package include two of the most popular entries in the Castlevania series to date, but it also includes a complete remake of a title that was previously only available in Japan. This massive collection of old and new Castlevania content is a great value for PSP gamers and fans of the series alike."

The legendary action game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is reborn on the PSP system with incredible 3D graphics and classic side scrolling gameplay. In bringing the Japanese PC Engine CD classic to the handheld arena, gamers take on the role of intrepid vampire hunter Richter Belmont seeking the destruction of the maniacal Count Dracula once-and-for-all in this pivotal piece in the ongoing Castlevania saga.

Both the original version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, localized in English for the first time and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, widely regarded as one of the most groundbreaking video games of all-time, are featured as unlockable items.

Players can battle through the game's more than 10 stages as either Richter Belmont or Maria Renard, each with their own unique skills and battle abilities. In addition to new 3D graphics, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles will feature new character designs by renowned Castlevania visualist Ayami Kojima. The game will also introduce a new sound collection system that will let players find songs from both Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night and create their own custom soundtracks as they play.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB and available for an SRP of $29.99. For more information, please visit www.konami.com.

About Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War
In the 14th century a quarrel over English succession to the French throne escalated into what history would call the Hundred Years' War. This ongoing war had exhausted the standing armies of both sides and there was a growing dependence on mercenary soldiers.

As arrows rain from above, knights will charge on horseback, cannoniers will fire volleys at heavy infantry, and armies will collide in unprecedented scale. Immerse yourself in ferocious battles where an innovative action style enables you to defeat countless numbers of soldiers with one cleverly chosen attack command. Establish a reputation as a formidable warrior and leader of men, build your war chest and lure hardened warriors to your employ. Outwit your opponents and overwhelm them with dominating force to be the last one standing when the dust settles on one of history's greatest conflicts.

BLADESTORM: The Hundred Years' War delivers stunning visuals in 720p HDTV and in game Dolby® Digital audio. This game is rated "T" (Teen- Alcohol Reference, Mild Language, and Violence) by the ESRB. BLADESTORM: The Hundred Years' War is developed by KOEI's award-winning internal team, Omega Force.

I played the demo on the PlayStation Network and thought it wasn't quite the Dynasty Warriors clone I thought it would be, but I haven't put enough time into it to give it a proper preview/review.

Even Microsoft Is Making Money!

They've released their quarterly earnings and basically because of Halo 3 they managed to make a profit for that time frame. They haven't had an entire year of profit ever since they launched the original Xbox, but hey I guess if they can make hardware that doesn't self-destruct within a year it's all good. Note that the Zune is included in that bottom line. It pretty much costs as much as a 4 GB Nano, it can't be making them that much money can it?

Super Smash Bros Brawl To Feature Video Sharing And New Character Announced

First the new character is King Dedede from the Kirby games apparently. I don't recognize him, and chances are that you don't either, but apparently they found him compelling enough to have him included in the game. I hope KK Slider or Tom Nook (both from Animal Crossing) are next. I really do.

More importantly, I guess, is the ability to share 3 minutes of video with your friends. It's sort of hidden at the bottom of this post, but it's clearly there just to tease you that much more as you continue to wait out the most recent delay.

It's Time To Samba Again!

One of my all-time favorite Dreamcast games (right behind Phantasy Star Online) is/was Samba De Amigo, but I never had the maracas. The Wii version was announced not that long ago, but it looks like we're going to be seeing it Spring 2008, which is probably sooner than I expected. Still, I can't wait. I predicted the Wii with it's motion sensing controller would be a perfect fit for the games sequel well over a year ago, it looks like my prediction will come true soon enough.

Sony Is Losing A Crapload Of Money, Apparently Nintendo Is Finding It

Sony Revenue is up, but their overall losses are way up!
If they have to drop the price prematurely again I think the Japanese suicide rate is going to skyrocket as board members and shareholders all commit ritual suicide. The shame of it.

Nintendo on the other hand is raking in more money than they can count.

It's scary how much money the Wii and DS are making for Nintendo. Even though Halo 3 was a system seller for Microsoft, they just barely managed to edge out Nintendo for first place and that's considering that Nintendo still isn't even meeting demand yet. If they had more systems in stores, would Microsoft have been able to outsell the little white juggernaut that is Wii? This is going to be a spin filled holiday season on all three home systems.

Rachet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Coming Early?

According to the good people at the PlayStation Blog it very well could end up in your local game store quicker than the street release date of October 30. Be on the look out for it if you're a fan of the series and apparently there are many otherwise they wouldn't have sold so many copies to this day.

Gears of War Goes Gold For Games For Windows

Wow, it's been a year since the Xbox 360 version came out, but it's finally made it's way onto the PC and if what I saw at E3 was any indication this version looks even better. I had a great time with it as I tried out the new modes and new maps. It made me want to get back into the game all over again. They've also added a new boss level. Guitar Hero III Finale Announced

It seems as though somehow the final challenge in Guitar Hero III was somehow leaked and now the song has been made public. That song indeed is: "The Devil Went Down To Georgia", if you want to hear the song before you play the game you can give it a listen to right here.

From the press release:

This song was composed and produced by Steve Ouimette, a 16-year veteran of the video game industry. He has scored original soundtracks for film, mobile media and video games. Since 2001 Steve has created over 5,000 ringtones and music for over 24 mobile phone games including HBO's The Sopranos, SpongeBob SquarePants and Alien vs. Predator. An accomplished guitarist, producer and composer, Steve is currently working on an MMORPG, a television series and another music based console game for release in Christmas 2008. In 2005, Steve formed 8th Wonder Productions. He is rapidly establishing himself as the leader in ultra-realistic re-records of songs from the 60's through today. Steve is working on several top rhythm based games for next generation systems.
